The Courage to Speak® Foundation Drug Prevention Education Programs are on the cutting edge of drug prevention in curriculum program development. We have helped prevent hundreds, perhaps thousands, of teenage drug related deaths. We are a non-profit organization providing a home, school and community-based approach to drug prevention through presentations, community forums and research-based school curriculum and parent programs. The Courage to Speak Foundation delivers social-emotional skill building lessons to increase the youth’s ability to live healthy lives and empowers parents and teachers with skills to communicate effectively with their children/students about the dangers of drugs.
We need to learn about these things before it’s too late…the most important thing this program teaches is not to be afraid…it’s better to talk out your problems than to resort to drugs.
Consider these sobering statistics
- The middle school aged child is at greatest risk for first time drug use.
- Kids reduce drug use by 65% if consistent prevention programs are in place.
- One-third of American teens who abuse pain relievers get them from family.
- One out of five 5th graders have been drunk according to the American Pediatric Association.
The Courage to Speak Drug Prevention Programs were evaluated by Yale University School of Medicine and were found to produce significant positive changes in communication and behavior among students and parents.
Just recognizing the problem isn’t enough. Peer pressure, lack of education and apathy overpower acknowledgement. Your financial support will help us talk directly to parents, students and schools to inform them that the threat of drug abuse is a reality.
Help us erase the myth that “Oh, this won’t happen to my child.”
It happened to my son, Ian.
It took his life.
