Youth Presentation
CEO and Founder Ginger Katz tells the story of her son Ian’s losing battle with drugs and provides insight into a young person’s journey into addiction, which began with cigarettes, alcohol, and marijuana (in the 8th grade) that then led to his death from an overdose in Ian’s junior year of college. Youth come away from the presentation with tools and information to refuse drugs, make healthier life choices, and help those they suspect might be using drugs. They learn how important it is to identify 3-5 adults in their lives that they can share their secrets with for support; how to develop clear decision-making strategies; how to develop clear refusal skill strategies; the dangers of Fentanyl and how marijuana and vapes can be laced with Fentanyl; and how enabling and denial perpetuates the disease of addiction.

Courage to Speak Drug Prevention Presentation with Connecticut Alliance of Foster and Adoptive Families
Courage to Speak® Drug Prevention Presentation
In a riveting and thought-provoking presentation, nationally renowned speaker, Ginger Katz, shares the story of her son Ian’s losing battle with drugs. Through her presentation, students and parents begin to recognize the telltale signs of alcohol and other drug use and the veils behind which those signs hide: anger, denial, fear, and pain.
Ginger Katz shows audiences how to avoid the heartache she suffered when drugs took her son Ian’s life when he was just 20 years old. Since then, she has reached hundreds of thousands of people telling Ian’s story and speaking honestly about the silence surrounding her son’s addiction. Told with quiet intensity and rigorous emotional integrity, Ginger’s words ask young people to have the courage to speak out and parents to listen, encouraging an honest and open family dialogue.
