Announcing “The Courage to Speak Empowering Youth to be Drug Free Family Night 2006” at West Rock Middle School on March 7th – doors open 6 pm. The event will be open to families from Norwalk and other communities. Italian dinner donated by Wild Oats of Westport, CT. The evening will include the Courage to Speak Presentation for Parents and Students. On display will be the remarkable prevention posters and collages created by the children during the Courage To Speak drug prevention classes. As you will see, The Courage To Speak Drug Prevention Curriculum is helping seventh graders to become outstanding prevention advocates and mentors for their younger siblings. Courage To Speak Community Leadership and Recognition Awards will also be presented. Parents 6:00 pm

The vigil is a national event that aims to bring people together to call attention to the extent and nature of the American drug problem. In attendance will be families and friends of those who have died from using drugs, as well as people involved in drug prevention, treatment and education, clergy, legislators, educators and others concerned about drugs. Also in attendance will be eight families who have personally suffered the loss of a loved one and who have joined together to plan a remembrance on the Memorial Wall, established for parents, siblings and friends to post a photo and brief story. The event begins at 6:30 p.m.

July 29, 2006 Kayak For A Cause event creates an amazing visual at Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk, CT and this year over 300 kayakers-including three of our board members – Kileen Doyle, Peter Corbett and Jim Sibley will line up along the shore to make the 12-to 13-mile trek across Long Island Sound, raising funds for The Courage To Speak Foundation, Inc.  We are blessed to be part of this because this funding will help us reach more children and parents, said Ginger Katz, President and Founder of The Courage To Speak Foundation, Inc. Funding will be used to develop prevention programs including curricula in the schools.
